## Introducing Sovryn Origins: A Launchpad for the Bitcoin Ecosystem
Community Call #30 was a landmark session, unveiling a powerful new platform within the Sovryn ecosystem: **Sovryn Origins**. Origins is a decentralized launchpad that will enable new and promising projects, particularly those building on Bitcoin and Rootstock, to conduct their token sales and distribute their tokens directly to the Sovryn community.
### Why a Launchpad?
A launchpad is a critical piece of infrastructure for a growing DeFi ecosystem. It creates a symbiotic relationship:
* **For New Projects:** It provides a platform to raise capital, gain immediate visibility, and tap into a highly engaged and crypto-native user base.
* **For the Sovryn Community:** It offers early access to vetted, high-quality investment opportunities within the ecosystem. It also provides a powerful new utility for the SOV token, which is used to participate in the sales.
### The First IDO: Babelfish
The call also announced the very first project to launch on Origins: **Babelfish**, a protocol for creating a cross-chain stablecoin aggregator. This Initial DEX Offering (IDO) will serve as the pilot for the launchpad platform.
### How Does Origins Work?
The team outlined the mechanics for participation, which are designed to be fair and to reward long-term Sovryn stakeholders:
1. **Tiered System based on Staked SOV:** To participate in a sale, users must stake SOV. The amount of staked SOV determines a user’s ‘tier,’ which in turn determines their allocation size in the sale. This ensures that the most committed community members get the largest access.
2. **Lottery and Guaranteed Allocations:** The system may use a combination of lottery tickets for lower tiers and guaranteed allocations for higher tiers to ensure broad participation.
3. **Vesting and Distribution:** The tokens purchased in the sale will be subject to a vesting schedule, aligning the interests of the new project’s investors with its long-term success.
